Volunteers

Beagle MarylandTM is manned 100% by volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any aspect (i.e., helping out with 'adoption days,' bringing dogs to and from the vet, searching for sources of funding, etc.), please email or call. Starting a beagle rescue operation in Southern Maryland is a challenge and we welcome volunteers. Giving of your time, money, or suggestions can make a tremendous difference. Even the smallest effort on your part can make a huge difference. There are so many dogs who need a little help!

Grant and Assistance Fellow:  Write and submits grants and proposals to organizations that might give us financial assistance.  Requires someone who can evaluate the donor organization and determine the best method in which BM can apply for funds.

Transporters:  Transporters move dogs from one place to another for various reasons.  On Adoption Days, they pick up dogs at the fosters and transport them to the Petsmart or Petco, and then return them to the foster when the event is over.  The same is true for our Pet Fiestas and other events.  A vehicle is all that is needed; the foster furnishes the halters, leads, and crates.  Other transports include picking up a dog at an agreed-on location and transporting it to a foster.

Handlers:  On Adoption Days, our Transporters pick up more dogs from the fosters than they can show alone (usually three).  These transporters are met at the Petco or Petsmart by Handlers who then take their dog for the day to give it individual attention and answer questions from the crowd.  The Transporter then returns the dog to the foster.
