Below are but a few of our senior dogs. All are full of potential that will only be realized in a loving home. Please consider adopting one of them. We promise... it'll be worth it.

We have had an unprecedented number of dogs come through
our rescue in need of more than the usual vetting. Some of them have
completed their vetting and moved on, but left large veterinary bills in their
wake. Most, however, are still with us, and with adoptions down (economy?
time of year?), we don't have adoption fees coming in to at least partially
cover their expenses. Our foster homes generally absorb the cost of food
and other incidentals, but we rely on donations and adoption fees to cover
vetting. Below is a summary of dogs who have had or need to have more
extensive vetting. We welcome any donations, small or large. Can you
contribute? Our vets thank you. (And so do we!)

Sweet Bebe has been diagnosed with adenocarcinoma. She had surgery to remove the tumor, but the vet was unable to get it all, or get clean margins. She will need to be checked for new lumps every few weeks. |

Gretchen came to us in appalling condition. On top of the regular vetting, she needed a dental to relieve constant pain and she still has the mother of all tumors in need of removal and possible subsequent treatment. |
 |
Candy (mother of the Sugar Babies) came to us heartworm positive. She had her first heartworm treatment on 6/1 and had a bad reaction requiring a trip to the emergency vet, fluids, oxygen and 24/7 monitoring. |

Heidi is heartworm positive and is currently undergoing treatment. |

Nell suffers from severe allergies and it has taken quite a while for the vet to figure out the cause and treatment. |

Morgan LeFay suffers from pulmonary hypertension as the result of an advanced case of heartworm. She has been treated and no longer has heartworms but her lheart was damaged. Her daily meds are expensive. |

The vet declared Audrey Ruth one of the worst cases he'd ever seen of dental problems. We need funds to pay for this expensive procedure. |

Liz needed several mammary tumors removed. She's now been adopted, but her bills are only partially paid. |

Sammy has ongoing issues with his spine. |

Macaroni Charles "Mac" has finished up his heartworm treatment, but the bills remain. |
