What's It Like to Be a Foster Home?

A rewarding experience!  Ok, that was the easy answer. The "reality" answer for most folks is:  you take in a sick, scared, starving dog.  You nurse and nurture the dog.  You deal with housebreaking accidents.  The dog  gradually comes to view you as the single-most important person in the universe.  You love this dog.  You are proud when he makes it through a workday without an accident.  You are proud when this  former scared little thing wags his tail and walks up to a new situation filled with confidence you've instilled.

Then you give the dog to someone else. They're wonderful people.  They just lost their dog at the age of 16 years.  They did all they could for their dog.  Now they've fallen in love with "your" dog.  Your dog likes these people.  Their lifestyle is exactly what he wants or needs.   But "your" dog - Talk about a kick in the gut.  It hurts.  But then, when the dog is finally in a new home, where s/he is the center of someone else's universe, another beagle in need comes along.  And you are happy again, and it is thankful to be saved.  Don't you want to help this process happen?
