Fletcher is an older gentleman who needs a lot of love and a soft bed in his later years.  Fletcher is most likely a Black & Tan Coonhound mix.  He’s very calm and loves getting attention.  Fletcher has led a hard life where he wasn’t cared for very well.  He was then dumped in a rural West Virginia shelter where he was destined to die if we hadn’t stepped in.

Fletcher’s teeth are almost completely worn down in the front from lack of proper care and chewing on inappropriate things such as hard objects and probably cage wire.

Fletcher suffers from a skin condition known as Seborrheic Dermatitis which causes thickened, scaling patches of skin.  This condition is not contagious and is actually found frequently in humans.  Baths with a medicated shampoo help to relieve the symptoms and improve the condition of his skin.  He does very well in the bathtub and just loves being rubbed and scrubbed.  Probably because it feels so good for his itchy skin.

Being an older dog, Fletcher also suffers from various lumps and bumps.  The vet has checked him thoroughly and so far these bumps are typical fatty cysts and wart-like growths that occur frequently in older dogs and are no cause for concern.  It does however mean that Fletcher isn’t quite as dashingly handsome in his old age (but then again, who is).  The bottom line is that Fletcher deserves a loving home and someone to shower him with affection to ensure that the later years of his life are infinitely better than the first 8 years.

Adoptive Status:  Fletcher is Crate Trained, Neutered, UTD on shots, Heartworm Negative and micro-chipped.

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Easy.  Fletcher doesn’t require much but will graciously accept anything you give him.  Fletcher does not do well with cats.

Owner Aptitude Level: Beginner, but someone who understands the needs of an older dog.
