This aptly named senior fellow was found paddling in the bay. How would an old dog find himself alone and in deep water, you ask? He could have been on a rescue mission, out to save his owner from drowning. He might have gotten an untimely discharge from the Navy before his ship actually made it back to port. Our guess is that his owner tossed him overboard to solve the problem of an aging dog who no longer hunts, is no longer "beautiful," or, perhaps, no longer matches the draperies. A very kind boater fished him out of the water and took him back to the marina where Chessie endured a heck of a stormy night out on his own. The boater came back the next day to find Chessie hungry, wet and frightened and then, wisely, took him to the animal shelter where he eventually came to Beagle Rescue. As far as personality goes, he's a beagle! Except for needing some meds for arthritis and allergies, he's a low maintenance-type guy. Friendly, loving, willing to eat at a moments notice. He's missed a few meals along the way and he's doing his level best to make up for lost time. He is well behaved, and someone somewhere has crate trained him. It would be lovely if Chessie could find a home where he will be loved and cared for for the rest of his life. Adoptive Status: Will be neutered, UTD on shots, Heartworm Negative and micro-chipped within two weeks after the posted date. Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Just needs love and a human to love him. Owner Aptitude Level: Beginner. Posted 9/28/06 |
