Meet Mikey.  He and his sister Mae were recently born to our Dorothy.  Their story is a sad one.  Dorothy had been seen for about the last 9 months around a neighborhood in Charles Town, WV with no one claiming her.  Several kind people were putting food out for her, but they could not catch her.  Recently some of the neighbors sighted Dorothy with puppies trailing along behind her, which caused even more concern, so they contacted Beagle Maryland to help.  Beagle Maryland worked with the local animal control to trap both momma and her pups.  All three are now safe and sound in foster homes and no longer have to worry about fending for themselves anymore, or being hit by a car (or something worse).

Mikey and Mae are typical pups--all about playing, eating and sleeping, and then repeating the process all over again.  Mikey and Mae are coming around nicely to being held and played with by humans and love the other dogs in their foster home.

Because they had to be trapped, we will only place them with a securely fenced yard, as they will need a secure place for leash training and playing safely.  While Mikey and Mae do not have to be placed together, placing them with another dog would be a plus for either of them.

Applicants with prior dog ownership experience are preferred for these pups.  We are going to make an educated guess as to their lineage.  We suspect that Dad was the un-neutered Australian Cattle Dog belonging to one of the neighbors where Dorothy and the pups were regularly seen.  We can't be sure, of course, but they do seem to resemble that mix.  Our vet thinks that given their size and age right now, they will probably be in the 30-35 lb. range as adults.

Don't miss the opportunity to meet Mikey and Mae!

Adoptive Status:  Will be neutered, UTD on shots, Heartworm Negative and micro-chipped within two weeks after the posted date.

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Mikey would love a home with people who will watch over and protect him, make sure that he's regularly vetted, and gosh, if he could have another dog to play with, that would be swell!

Owner Aptitude Level:  Prior dog experience is preferable.  Puppies require lots of work and lots of patience.
