SUCCESS STORIES

Thought you might enjoy this picture of Oscar and Dotty (and yours truly).  Oscar is extremely camera shy, so we were very lucky to get this picture before he ran out of the room!  Dotty has settled into her new life in suburbia very nicely, thank you!  She loves her new house and yard, and sometimes she even lets us on the furniture!
Luke is so very happy in his new home.  He is our new alarm clock and he wakes us up EVERY morning around 6:45 to go play with his brother.  He's got a tight schedule to keep! Read all about it on Luke's homepage.
Bambi has been a great addition to the family!  She comes with me to work every day and sleeps by my desk.  Our children (ages 9 and 12 love her and give her tons of cuddles and hugs.  My husband, who never owned a dog before, can be found most nights snuggled with Bambi on the couch in front of the TV.  To read more, click on Bambi's homepage.
Morgan had been abused before she came to her forever home with us and she was extremely skittish from the start.  It took a LONG time for her to come in the house without going to the top of the steps, peeking in and then running back down the steps.  Now she allows us to hug her without panicking, and occasionally she will even lick us.  she enjoys walks and bossing Shyloh around.  She is a sweet little dog that has been a great addition to our family.
Shyloh Charles is a royal pup.  He is like a prince.  He is extremely loving and loyal.  he adores Morg and loves being petted and hugged and receiving any attention you can spare.  He also enjoys walks and whenever I put my sneakers on he begins howling because he thinks he is going to go around the neighborhood.  He is very friendly and loves meeting people and pups.  We love having Shy in our family!
In November 2007 my wife and I adopted Little Nell.  Her story was absolutely captivating.  Since then, she has been so much fun.  She and her new brother Dexter have been racing, wrestling, and playing non-stop.  We changed her name from Little Nell to Daisy.  She has gained a few pounds and is looking great!  Click here for more.
Hi, I'm Ruby Lyons, The Beagle Previously Known as Sabrina Spellman.  On October 27, 2007 I went to live with my permanent family in Severn, MD.  Although I miss my foster family (who are great folks) and my three sisters, I wouldn't trade my new family for anything!  Take a look at Ruby's homepage.
I met my beagle Sugar (Judy Plumb) a little over a month ago at PetSmart for a beagle meet and greet.   Miss Sugar was standing in the middle of a crowd of tail wagging beagles...  Thus begins the saga of Sugar in her new (at last) forever home.  Check out her homepage.
Carly (formerly Desilu) has found a loving home with a mom and dad, two 2-legged sisters, and a recently adopted brother named Rocky.  She is loving life and you can read all about it by clicking on Carly's homepage.
Angelina Joins the Pack!  Spencer and Shiloh were getting along just fine, but something
seemed to be missing. That "something" turned out to be Angelina, who joined the pack after a *very* brief fostering period (less than one week). We took Spencer and Shiloh to a meet and greet at the BRSM adoption day at PetsMart in Silver Spring, and after encountering Angie, the Dynamic Duo soon became the Three Musketeers.  Check out Angelina's story and photos on her homepage.
Winston is doing great.  This boy, who's foster mom nicknamed "Tank"  looks like he has lost a little weight.  He's running better and loves to raid his forever family's laundry baskets for socks and stuff.  The girls love playing with him.  This is truly a happy ending for a truly deserving dog.  See Winston's homepage for more photos and his new mom's comments.
Chester is a handsome blanket back Beagle with a very sweet disposition. We already had experience with a blind beagle as our 10 year lemon and white beagle, Noble, went suddenly blind from SARDs in 2006. When I heard of Chester's plight, abandoned possibly due to blindness and in a Kill Shelter 24 hours away from certain death, I knew in my heart what I had to do without hesitation, particularly after I saw his photo.  Visit Chess' homepage for the rest of the story.
My new family took me home on Saturday (3/8/08).  I rode in the back seat of the car with the smaller of the two boys - he's 12 - and he just kept petting me and telling me how excited he was to have me in his family.  To read more of Shaggie's (Chagall) happy story, click on his homepage.
...My mum and dad are real beagle people, they know that I should be on the couch with them during t.v. time, and sleep in the big dog bed with them at night.  They really love me and are always cuddling, petting, and kissing on me....  Read about Sasha's new life by clicking on her homepage.
Hershey and Rose were fortunate enough to become members of a household that had enough love to include beagles and children.  We are delighted at this happy ending.  To read their dad's note and see more photos, go to their homepages:  Hershey    Rose
After my first walk with Hugo (Boss), I fell in love and picked him up the following Friday, October 11th (my birthday coincidentally). Hugo turned out to be the best b-day gift I have ever received.  Read more about Hugo's new life here.
Laney (formerly Lois Lane) has been with us for about 6 months now, and she's made herself right at home.  She loves to play tug-of-war almost as much as she loves to cuddle.  Everyone she meets adores her and totally spoils her with affection. . .and treats.

We're glad she chose us to be her family.  Laney's homepage.
Spencer and Shiloh Blue are doing very well.  We're amazed at how quickly they're adapting to their new home and settling into their new routine! Visit their homepages to hear more of their new adventures in domestic bliss.  Shiloh Blue  Spencer
We picked up Annie (Anna Marie) this past November (07) and our lives haven't been the same ever since.  She's been such a joy and brightens our day, especially the way she greets us when we get home from work.  To see the rest of Annie's story, click on her homepage.
I adopted Dixie (now Penny) in late November (07).  She's only been with me for 2 months, but she was a member of the family after two days!  She adores her new sister Pacey (a black lab/beagle mix) and the cats Hubbell and Matilda...  To read the rest, click here.
Since coming into our lives two months ago, Nigel has gotten much healthier and now weighs a healthy 20 lbs.  He is just the most perfect dog that we could have asked for.  He has such a wonderful little personality and squeaks with excitement in an adorable way when we get home in the afternoons.  He still inhales his food like a little vacuum cleaner.  Nigel loves going for long walks and sniffing everything in sight.  We just cannot imagine our lives without him.  See Nigel's homepage for photos.
To hear her tell it, Pearl's been traveling and having more fun than most humans we know!  Check out the photos on her homepage.
After falling in love with Snuggles while she was being fostered by our neighbors, we decided to adopt her in April.  Since that time, Snuggles has found her place in our family.  See Snuggles' homepage for more photos and the rest of the story.
There's no spoiling going on at Freckle Goodpup's house.  Now called Tammy Goodpup, you can read all about it right here.
Pancake has been with her family since September of 2004, to read this happy ending, visit her homepage.
To see how Scoot (formerly Scute) is faring with her new family, visit her homepage.
Roary (formerly Merry Christmas) has been with us for 7 months now. We love having her with us and she is just as energetic as the day we brought her home.  To check out the antics of Roary and her Yorkie brother, Kefka, see her homepage.
We adopted Ralph four months ago.  He has completely adjusted to his new home.  He has two big sisters who love him and play with him all the time.  To see more of Ralph, click here.
Well, it's been just over two weeks now, and I wanted to give you an update on Tina.  First, we've renamed her Jazz!  She's just so mellow and easygoing, it seemed like a perfect name.  Jazz has adjusted very well to her new furr-ever home.  To read more of this lucky girl's story, click here.
Scout (formerly Macquire) is doing great in his new home.  It's been two weeks now and he's adjusting to the new surroundings, the big back yard and a steady supply of chewies (which our cats have now convinced him doesn't include them.)  To read more about Scout and see more great photos, click here.
Rousseau (formerly Lollie Marie) has just started obedience classes.  To see Rousseau enjoying the good life in her new home, click here.
Adie (formerly Lizzie Beth) has become the center of our home.  In a few months she has blossomed  into a more confident, active and happy beagle.  Her favorite activities are eating (anything), playing with her duck or octopus squeeky toys, and sleeping on our bed, in that order.  She also loves to hike and dance the salsa!  We have a tough time keeping up with her!  Read more about Adie here.
His new mom has sent us several good photos of Banjo enjoying the good life.  Banjo came to us scared, confused and looking nothing like the handsome boy in these photos.  See his homepage for news of Banjo and more photographs.
Sophie was adopted in and quickly adjusted to her new home and beagle sister Sandy.  Sophie is very friendly and loves to daily "hunt" rabbits in our backyard and bark greetings to our neighbors walking around the neighborhood.  She also likes to get in the car to go to the park for a walk and visit her other beagle friends Kate and Mickey, along with their cats and miniature pincher, Dasher.  Thanks for all you do, She's a great dog!  Sophie's homepage
Hi guys, its Mollie (aka Koko ), its been a long time since I left your wonderful care, but my Mom and Dad have given me a wonderful home.  I have a sister McKenzie and we do everything as a family.  To read more about Mollie's adjustment to her new home, click here.
Audrey (the beagle formerly known as Peggy Sue) has found a special place in our hearts (and on our couch!).  From the timid dog who we had to lure with treats to the silly girl who now chases us around the yard, we have loved watching Audrey's personality blossom.  She is curious, funny, and full of life!  See Audrey's homepage for more photos.
Callie (formerly Keloni) is doing well, loves being outside and sniffing to her heart's content.  She's a great dog...well-behaved and very sweet natured.  For more photos, click here.
Our Pugsley has found himself a dad who is prolific on the computer!  This boy has a blog!!!   Check it out!  http://www.benjaminbradley.com/pugsley    You can even subscribe to Pugsley's RSS feed from his blog by either going to the aforementioned link, or by clicking on this link:    http://benjaminbradley.com/taxonomy/term/2/0/feed

Hoagie came to live with me in Northern Virginia in March of 2007.  Mara thought we'd make a good pair, and boy was she right!  I'd planned to foster him, but after two days I realized I wouldn't be able to give him up.  He is a sweet, gentle, loving boy. To read the details and see more photos of Hoagy, click here.
Hi, my name is Paisley (it used to be Nina).  Even though I started my life on a farm in Virginia, I am now a big city girl.  I go to work every day in the Capitol and I even get to ride escalators.  I have a friend named Chavo who I love to play with (even though he sometimes steals my toys).  One of my favorite things to do is sit on top of the couch and watch the birds fly outside.  Well, I would prefer to run after them, but I'm not old enough to cross the street by myself yet.  The best part is...I am almost house trained! Click here for Paisley's homepage.
"Charlie has been with us since June of 2005.  We always joke about the day we went to the "Beagle Ranch" to pick out a dog."  To see how this high spirited and very photogenic boy is faring, click here.
Bindi has adapted very well to her new home since we adopted her on Feb. 16, 2007.  We are so lucky to have found such a special girl.  To see more, click here.
Holiday, now known as Coke-O, is the new baby of the house.  She is adored by everyone, especially our 100 pound lab, Jack.  She loves to play with Jack.  They play tug-of-war (he lets her win), ball, etc.  He  is so gentle with her that she just walks all over him...literally.  We love her personality.  She is so lovable and cuddly, but also tough and spunky.  To read more, click here.
Both boys are doing great...they get along like brothers and hate to be apart.  They loved eating and playing in the first snowfall!  To read more about Yankee & Montana (now Boomer), click here.
Luci is doing great!  She has really made herself at home. She follows me everywhere and whines and cries when I leave the house.  I guess she must be "daddy's dog." We are so happy with her and I believe she is very happy having found a permanent home.  To read more of Luci's story, click here.
"Back in June of 2006 we were looking for a beagle..."  So begins the story of Jefferson, one of the "unbeagles" pictured on the left.  To read more about Jefferson, click here.
My parents are currently fostering (to adopt) Lady and they asked me to send you pictures of her from Christmas.  She is a sweet little (lazy!) dog.  You can definitely tell she used to live with two cats.  We think she thinks she is a cat, as much as she sleeps!  To read more about Ladybug and see more photos, click here.
Charlie Dog wants everyone to at BRSM to know that he is happy and healthy in his new Baltimore home.  He has brought much joy and love to his new family.  To read more, click here.
We adopted Kaleigh (now Riley) almost 6 months ago and she couldn't have been a more perfect fit for our family.  We have one other dog named Parker, who is a 4 year old pure breed beagle, and they have become the best of friends.  Not only do they play together but we often catch them napping with each other as well.  She is very sweet and gentle, and wants nothing more than to lay in someone's lap and get her belly rubbed.  She is also very smart, she learned the "treat" word very fast!  Thank you, Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland, for finding Riley for us.   To see more photos, click on Riley's homepage.
Reilly Ridge was one of our Katrina Rescue dogs who was fortunate enough to find a wonderful home where she is loved and indulged.  To read her story, click here.
My name is Lena – I was called Mary Ellen by BRSM but my new daddy changed my name to Lena which is the Russian version of Ellen. I have been in my forever home just over a month now.  To see how well I'm faring, click on my homepage.
We adopted Jolly in August and Tia in November of 2006.  Their two personalities compliment each other very well and we love them both.  To read the complete story of these two beautiful beagles, click here.
Click on Nettie & Liam's homepages to see how these two cute pups are faring!
I recently began (forever) fostering Morrie and just wanted to let everyone know that he is doing great.  I couldn't ask for a better dog.  He gets along great with the other animals (including our blind dog Rudy) and although he is a bit geriatric, loves hiking with my boyfriend and I.   Morrie's homepage
Wally and Peanut, (now Maggie Mae) have brought so much happiness to our home.  We are completely in love with them!  It's like they have been part of family forever.  To see more photos and read the rest of their story, please click here.
My fiancé and I adopted Nashville back in October '06.  At first we were a little hesitant because we already have a beagle and a cat, but now that it has been almost two months, we love Nashville so much and we are so glad he is part of our family.  To hear more about Nashville's new life, click here.
Harry has already made himself quite at home here in New Jersey with his three-legged beagle brother Mike and his two kitty brothers Charlie and Jake. He is the most amazing pup – so sweet, loving and wonderful with the rest of his pack. Check out the rest of Harry's (nee Poseidon's) story, as well as his very own website.  http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?j=t&i=425188
Were you beginning to wonder whatever happened to that cute little Bandit?  His name is now Carlos.  Click here to see more photos of Carlos and his new sibling.
We adopted Snickers, formerly Athos, in April of 2005.  Snickers has grown up a lot since then...literally!   He was only four months old and nearly 40 lbs. when we got him and now he is 75 lbs!  See more great photos and read the rest of Snicker's story by clicking here.
I don't know if I found Tess or she found me.  I had been looking to adopt a dog for quite sometime and really wanted to rescue a dog from a shelter.  I found the Beagle Rescue website by a fluke by searching the internet on Petfinder looking for a pup to call my own.  My mother, sister and I were scrolling down the page and I remember my mother said, "Wait.  Go back and look at that one" and that's all it took.  Read more about Tess on her homepage.
When we went to Mara's to look at dogs to foster, we sent my ten year old son Sam into the "dog room."  All the dogs were running around very excited.  Rainbow, however, walked right up to him and put her paws up on his thighs and wagged her tail.  It was love at first sight.  See Rainbow's homepage for the rest of the story...
"We are once again failing fostering...and adopting Houston."  Read more of how Houston came to be a beloved member of his human family.  Houston's homepage.

Clover & Mitsy have hit pay dirt!  Their mom is one of the few, the brave, and the very wise humans who realized that two beagles are the only thing better than one.  Check out their homepages to see how they're faring in their loving forever home.  Mitsy's homepageClover's homepage.

Hi, I’m Beacon Beagle.  Mara used to call me “Felicity,” and before that I was the Beagle known as “Flip.”  My new parents named me “Beacon” because they love lighthouses.  They adopted me in September of 2004, and they’re just now getting around to sending a picture and letting me tell my story – better late than never!  Visit Beacon's homepage for the rest of her story.

The attached note arrived at Beagle Rescue from our Brewster, who together with Sawyer and Sweet Pea have found a loving forever home.  Brewster's note to his foster mom

I've been with my forever family for about five weeks now, and we've all decided to make it permanent.  My mommy and daddy think I am just a love bug.  I sit in laps, next to laps, and behind laps.  I like to be in contact with somebody...   To read more about how Sammie is adapting to life in a forever family, click on her homepage.

Mandy is joyful, happy, and so full of herself!  She LOVES to play.  When she plays with her mom, she sometimes throws her head back and lets go a long, deep and low bay.  She is shouting for joy.  She's gentle and affectionate, and likes to cuddle in bed with her humans.  She makes us laugh.  We ADORE her!  This is the good part, of course.  See Mandy's homepage for the rest of the story.

We love Snickers, although we have renamed him Beauregard, or just Beau for short.  The only problem that we've had with him is that he's a bit of a chewer.  He also tends to go limp when you tell him to go to his crate, so you have to pick him up and place him there, but that's kind of cute.  He and our beagle, Zoey, really get along well.  For more photos, see Beau's homepage.

When Lincoln first arrived at the Beagle Rescue, he was a very sick dog. He suffered from heartworms, lung problems, and had been shot. (You can still see the buckshot in his X-rays!) Through the hard work of everyone at Beagle Rescue, however, Lincoln made an amazing recovery, and almost three years later is now a healthy and happy Friend of Winston.  See Lincoln's homepage for the rest of his story!

Digger (formerly Modigliai) is doing very well in his new home.  His family has sent photos and will update us on his welfare a little later.  Stay tuned!

Please open Dudley's homepage for this VERY special beagle boy's Success Story!

Ben has adjusted quite well and it's a good thing he is a foxhound, because he enjoys the company of our two foxes (our orange kitties).  He has discovered he likes cat food more than dog food and he is fascinated with the garbage trucks.  He loves his stuffed toys, going for walks, and hanging out (sleeping and laying with us).  Ben is a fast learner and has mastered shaking in a matter of two days.  He is a great dog and is everything we wanted in a dog.  Ben fits right into our family and we can't imagine a day without him.  Ben wanted to say thanks to everyone who took care of him and also to the Beagle Rescue!  See Ben's homepage for more photos.

We adopted Clara Barton in the fall of 2005 and we could not be happier.  Clara is now named Callie.  Although she was very shy at first, she adapted to life here with her pug brother Angel and pug sister Chica.  She is an active, but generally quiet and polite little girl who loves to run and play in the back yard.

She loves chasing Chica and "treeing" her under a deck chair.  It is then that we get to hear her beautiful beagle voice!  She has become a delightful and well loved companion, and a member of our family. Visit Callie's page for more pictures and the rest of her story.

We adopted Camden (now Cammie) in November 2005, and she is an absolute joy. She's extremely sweet and cuddly and LOVES to snuggle up next to you on the sofa (and tummy rubs, too). She plays take-away with Paul, but all she ever wants from Cary is a close-up snuggle and lots of under-the-neck scrunching. She's made friends with lots of doggies in the neighborhood, especially Freckles (a Jack Russell mix who belongs to our daughter's best friend). Cammie's been known to put her foot on your leg to make sure you don't go anywhere! Now the weather's warmed up, she's happiest when she's outside, flaked out on the grass. Thanks for everything!  Visit Cammie's page for more pictures.

We got Melton on 3/25/06 and he has fit in so well that it feels as if he's always been a part of the family.  It's great to come home and see how excited he gets when he sees me come in the house.  My son takes him for walks in the evening after his dinner and Melton loves to meet the kids in the neighborhood or anyone else who wants to say hi.   Unfortunately he's getting a little spoiled in the toy dept.  I find I always try to pick up a new toy for him.  His favorite is a squeaky fish my friend gave him and a squeaky tire attached to a rope.  He plays tug of war with that one.  He does love his tennis balls too.  Thanks again to Sue his foster mom for taking good care of him.

“Tyler” (formerly Tyrone?) is about to celebrate his one year anniversary in his forever home.  He adopted us (!) at the 2005 Middleburg (VA) Spring Races.  While he is actually a former hunting dog, he has adapted to retirement quite well.  Admittedly there were some initial “challenges” -  like standing on the coffee table (reminds him of the view from the top of his doghouse maybe?), and learning that just because he wolfs his food down, doesn’t mean he is going to get the other dog’s serving as well – and she told him that, several times, before he learned!   It has been a wonderful first year with Tyler and we absolutely love him.  BEAGLES RULE!  Adopt one!  PS-Rumor has it that Tyler will be making a guest appearance at this year's Middleburg Spring Races (Saturday April 22) in celebration of his first year anniversary in his forever home.  If you are there, stop by and say hello to him.  Visit Tyler's page for his full story and more pictures.

Ruby, formerly Ursula, is such a joy!  I don't know how I lived without her.  She is so sweet,
gentle and friendly.  She was timid at first, but with lots of love, she has really blossomed.
Ruby follows me all over the house, is very bonded and wants to be with me all the time.
She loves walks (she's so excited she practically runs the whole time!), and she loves to
sit with me on the couch and watch TV.  Her tail wags all the time!  Thank you to Beagle
Maryland, and especially to MJ, who hand picked her for me, and was exactly right! Visit
Ruby's page for more pictures.

I want to send a big AROOOOOO to all of my friends at Beagle Maryland. Thank you all so much for helping me find my new home. I just love my new mom and dad. My big sister Lady is OK, too. I've been home for about 2 weeks now and I'm fitting in nicely. My buddy Milton came with me and we get to sleep together in a huge crate at night. I really like Milton. We play and run around the house together.  I just love to collect things that smell like my mom and dad. I have a scarf that was my mom's. She is letting me keep it all for myself. My dad took away his tools though. I don't know why he doesn't want me to keep them safe for him. I only chewed on them a little.  I just love to play and I love meeting new dogs. I bark at the big ones so they know who's boss. Some of them are even scared of little old me! Well, I have to go play now. Thanks again! Ginger aka Camilla.  Visit Ginger's page for her full story and more pictures.

Thanks to Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland, I have been blessed with the sweetest little beagle girl.  Her name is Buttercup.  My husband and I were heartbroken, as we had just lost our beloved 13 year old Beagle, Sarah, the night before Thanksgiving.  We had also lost our beloved 11 year old Husky-Shepherd, Monroe, back in February.  It is so hard to lose your pet, but to lose two in one year was unbearable.  We decided  to adopt a rescued Beagle, to give a deserving dog a loving home.  It is truly amazing how much one tiny dog can change your life, heal the hole that was left in your heart from the loss of a previous pet and then continuously pour the love upon you day by day, unconditionally.   I thought I was doing good by adopting a rescued Beagle, however the tables were turned and our little Buttercup gives all the blessings to us.

Thank you BRSM for the wonderful job you do in rescuing these precious Beagles, in giving them a chance to find a loving home.  Also, thank you to Ewa and her family for being such wonderful, loving foster parents.  Visit Buttercup's page for her full story and more pictures.

We first adopted Manny in March 2002 and my husband promptly renamed him Barkley, which as it turns out is a well-suited name.  He has become such a complete nut, and we love him dearly.  We figure that if he could talk he would sound something like "Donkey" from the Shrek movies.  All he wants to do is play and eat.  After we had Barkley for about a year, we noticed that he was really attached and started to be destructive in our house.  We thought the best way to cure that would be to get another beagle.  I went to the website, and there was Marley just looking back at me.  I called Mara and asked if I could adopt him and she was so kind and said I could come and get him that weekend as long as Barkley and he got along.  We took Barkley with us to pick him up and they hit it off so we then added Marley to our family.  Marley took a while to come out of his shell, but I think he finally knows he has a forever home.  Marley is a little subdued and loves the sun.  If it's shining, he will find its location and lay in it.

Anyway, I could go on and on about them, so I'll stop now, but I've included some great pictures of them for their webpages.  Visit Barkley's and Marley's pages for their full stories and more pictures.

“Sunnie day, sweeping the clouds away….”  I have never met a dog whose tail wags as much as our little Rosalind, now Sunnie.  Her whole body shakes and it looks like she is dancing.  I just fell in love with those eyes…they make my heart melt. Sunnie is always available for free kisses and hugs. She has instantly become a part of our family and puts a smile on any face she meets.  She is such a happy heart and we are so thankful for her. Her face is so expressive it is like she understands every word we say. Maybe she does.  She loves to watch the birds and when she see ones, she stops still and lifts one front paw up as though she is pointing to it. Maybe she has a little bit of Pointer in her. We consider ourselves to be as lucky as she is and are looking forward to many years with Sunnie Buns. Every day is an adventure with Sunnie. We can’t wait for tomorrow.  Thank you Beagle Rescue!!  Visit Sunnie's page for her full story and more pictures.

We just passed our month anniversary with Snoopy (formerly Freckles Henry) and time has really flown.  He loves to be covered up, and loves collecting things, mainly things with family scents on them.  He steals dirty socks from the laundry, any shoes he can find, and even hair scrunchies, and hides them in his bed.  He also puts all his toys in there.  Good thing we got him an extra big bed... he uses it more for storage than sleeping!  Snoopy also has this great way of greeting anyone that walks through the front door.  He goes for the usual head pat or ear scratch, but slowly leans against your legs (thereby preventing you from moving) and rolls himself onto the ground, belly up.  With your feet trapped beneath him, you are forced to rub his belly.  This dog is a GENIUS!  Snoopy has truly been a blessing to our family and we can't imagine life without him.  He came to us in difficult times and has lifted everyone's spirits.   Visit Snoopy's page for his full story and more pictures.

It's been three quick months since my girlfriend and I brought Lucky (Lucky G) home and into our lives.  His presence in my apartment has confirmed the best decision I have ever made.  Lucky (I didn't change the name, although the G is kind of dropped) is always there to greet me at the the door every time I come home.  Everyone that has come in contact with him absolutely adores him.  He is the perfect companion for my girlfriend and me.  You can read right into his eyes and know immediately that he is so happy to be here.  It's so exciting to come home and see him jump up and light up the house.  I've brought him back to meet my family at home in New York, and he wants to sit right in my lap while I'm driving!  He eats everything, but he adores cheese.  I've been able to give him baths by giving him cheese.  ! Thank you Beagle Maryland for giving me exactly what I needed.  Visit Lucky's page for his full story and more pictures.

We received pictures but no story of Ruthie.  Visit Ruthie's page to see more pictures.

We just wanted to send a note about Elsie (formerly Lucy Clark) and what a blessing she has been to our family.   For a dog that had such a rough life, she was the most behaved dog you could ask for.  She was housebroken, calm, walked perfect on a leash and on the ride home the first day we all had ice cream cones and she did not beg, not even a little (things have changed since then).   She bonded to us (me, my husband and kids) quite quickly, but it took much longer for her to bond with our other two dogs Lucy and Brooke.  At first Elsie was so shy and did not play much, never barked and just wanted to sit with us on the couch and cuddle.  Now, she has been with us nine months and she has just blossomed.  Elsie sleeps at night with my son, Al (9 years old), and she definitely enjoys having a boy to share the bed with and likes to watch over him.  She is a faithful and loving friend and we love her very much.  Visit Elsie's page for her full story and more pictures.

This is Bailey, formerly Boswell. Lisa and I have had him for just about four years now. When we got him he was still sick with lime disease; however, he has beaten that, yahoo! Bailey loves dog parks, other dogs, long walks, treats, and most of all, tons of affection, all of which he gets. The boy goes crazy happy when he sees you after being left at home for even five minutes.  Now that dad finally has gone digital we'll send more pictures later. Thank you Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland for letting us adopt Bailey! He is a wonderful pet and really tries to please, in fact his nick-name is Henry Kissinger, as he is such a politician/diplomat.  Visit Bailey's page for more pictures.

I got Jean-Marie because I completely fell for one of her friends at Beagle Maryland, Claude Monet. I saw how grateful he was to have found a permanent loving home, and I had hoped to help another sweet beagle have a similar experience.  Miss Jeanie had her teeth taken care of, and her ears are 100% now so the little girl has so much spring in her step. She even gives my two cats a run for their money now and again which I think secretly they enjoy. Jean-Marie is the sweetest dog in the world, and while she has 3 of her own beds, her favorite place to sleep is anywhere near me. I continually am surprised by the increase in energy she exudes and I count my life so much richer for her being a part of it. She greets me every time I come home with a howl of love which just makes you melt a million times over. I can't thank you enough for uniting me with this truly special animal.  Visit Jean-Marie's page for her full story and more pictures.

This was taken Sunday evening around 7:00 pm -- we had friends over for brunch and the two of them (Jeffrey and Chester) were exhausted....it's hard work begging for scraps...either that or they are in a food coma!  Visit Jeffrey's page for his full story and more pictures.

It’s been almost a year since I adopted Yancy, now Jimbo.  I have to tell you what an amazing little dog this is.  My mom passed away in January and if it wasn’t for his companionship I believe she would have left us earlier.  Jimbo is loved by everyone he meets including my coworkers on the Hill.  He has free roam of the office and usually, once he makes his rounds and greets everyone, he lies in his bed in my office or plays with one of his toys.  He is the most wonderful dog in the world. He rides next to me in the truck and I try to take him everywhere I go.  He is great with kids and loves to play with the beagle next door.  Snickers will come over for hours on end and they will play until both are exhausted.  Of course, his favorite places are the bed and in my lap in the rocker recliner.  Words just cannot express how lucky I am to have found Jimbo.  Thanks, Gene.  Visit Jimbo's page for his full story and more pictures.

Let me tell you about  Rocky (formerly Romeo).  He is a great beagle - the best.  People fall in love with him everywhere I go.  He is so laid back, loving and cute.  What a cuddlebug too - he loves to sleep with you at night and boy does he love to eat.  I call him "fat boy" as he's put on so much weight since he was found lost in the woods in West Virginia.  One day my prince charming arrived - a musician - named Tonyo who works nights and is home during the day.  Well for Tonyo and Rocky it was love at first sight.  Rocky follows Tonyo everywhere he goes.  Tonyo introduced Rocky to a little girl beagle named Chyna and he arranges play dates for the two dogs so needless to say Rocky is happy as a lark these days.  Well, you know I love beagles and always will.  Rocky has been the best thing to come into my life.  I have so enjoyed having him around and my boyfriend loves him too.  I would encourage everyone that can to adopt a beagle - it's been a great, loving experience.  Visit Rocky's page for his full story.

Solomon has been a wonderful addition to our home.  Everyone he meets falls in love with him immediately.  He is very quiet for a beagle.  Actually he almost never howls or barks.  He only howls when a fire truck goes by or when he is out for a walk and sees a squirrel, rabbit, or the geese. Here's what Solomon has to say about the situation.  "I love it here where I'm the king of the house.  I've got a really easy laid back life.  I love to sleep on the bed or on the couch especially with the blanket my mom crocheted for me.  Oh!  I also graduated from obedience school with high honors (well sort of, but I did my best) A big special thank you and a big grunt ('cause I grunt instead of barking) to Beagle Rescue for helping me find my forever home!!!  A special shout out to all my foster friends...I hope they are as happy as I am!!!"  Thanks!!!  Visit Solomon's page for his full story and more pictures.

Hermione (Hemi, in short) is our sweet little baby. We have been attached to each other very fast. She loves to go for a walk three times a day, although sometimes she forgets what she has to do, because she is busy chasing the stray cats. She loves a steamed-towel massage: this is mommy’s special. She likes her belly rubbed: this is daddy’s special. She really enjoys the ear cleaning time because she realized that makes her feel better. She gets excited when she smells the ear cleaning solution. She does not like to eat anything but CHICKEN: everything must taste of chicken.

Hermione is a great joy in our lives and we will always be together!  Visit Hermione's  page for her full story and more pictures.

I just wanted to write and let you know how Claude Monet has been doing since we began
forever fostering him on Christmas Eve 2005.  Claude was initially very timid and scared
of us but, since that time, he has blossomed into a terrific companion.  Now we cannot
imagine life without him!  He loves to sleep but, when he isn't, he loves to follow us around
the house, go on walks, and make weekly trips to the local dog park to visit with other
dogs, big and small.  Claude is very easy-going and loves both his human and canine
friends.  I have attached some pictures of Claude with another Beagle Maryland dog, Jean
Marie, who is currently being fostered by a friend of ours.  We hope that you enjoy his story
and his pictures.  Thank you for connecting us with this very special senior beagle, he was
the best Christmas present we have ever received :) Visit Claude Monet's home page for
more pictures.

When Teddy came home for the first time, it took several weeks for him to begin to trust his new family and realize not only were we not going to traumatize him like his prior owners, but he'd get all the love in the world. He began to jump on the couch, sleep on the bed, play with toys, bark, and learn to embrace life. Neither the vacuum nor thunder will scare him now. Teddy was timid as can be when he came home, but then two weeks later came his new big brother, Shiloh Valentine. He is the one who taught Teddy how to be a beagle really. Well, two years ago the urge bit and Shiloh and Teddy had another brother join them, Lance! Oh my is he just the sweetest "person" in the world! He is always falling back in your arms to be petted and uses his nose to nudge you if you stop, even after an hour.  Thanks! And, there can't be enough gratitude for the wonderful organization you have and how happy we are for the beagles we have.  Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!  Visit Teddy's, Shiloh's, and Lance's pages for their full story and more pictures.

Hello Beagle Rescue of MD.  We love our pooch, Samantha George (now Sam), and she is so very happy.  (At the moment, she is all the way under the covers by my feet as I type on my laptop in bed!)  She loves to be "under" something - a coat, pillow, blanket.  She will pull the fabric over her own head!!! It is hysterical.  She hides ALL her treats and rarely eats them.  They are ALL over the house!  When she is looking for a good hiding spot, she whimpers. It's as if she is saying, "Oh my, oh my, wherever should I put this treasure, oh my, oh my..."  All the neighbors love Sam.  We live near a school and the children adore her as well.  She enjoys chasing squirrels, rabbits and an occasional raccoon!   Funny.  Funny little doggie.  Visit Sam's page for her full story and more pictures.

Lexi Bay has been the light of our lives since we took her home in October of 2005. At first
we thought the transition from roaming the wilds of rural PA (thanks to foster mom Becki,
foster dad Tom, and all of her "siblings" for taking such good care of her!) to our tiny town-
house with even tinier yard would be a difficult one - but her transition was instantaneous!
Lexi loves to play with squeaky toys with her current favorites being a bright blue seal
(which lost its squeak from swimming in her water bowl) and one that looks like a jack
but has six "points" each with a squeaky ball on the end. In her world, there can never be
enough squeaky toys. All in all, we just can't get enough of her and can't imagine life any
other way. Thank you Beagle Rescue! Visit Lexi's page for her full story and more
pictures.

I just wanted to write a note to let you know how Rollo is doing.  First off, we changed his name - he's now known as Hurley.  Hurley is possibly the most fantastic dog ever.  He is SOOO cool!  He's a lot of fun - he has lots of energy, but not enough to the point that he's annoying.  He likes to play during the day, and veg out at night on the couch.  He loves squeaky toys - but apparently not for long.  He completely disembowels them to remove the squeak mechanism - sometimes within hours of getting the new toy.  And before he accomplishes this, he WILL NOT give the toy up.  I guess for Hurley, the squeak is the equivalent of catnip to cats.  It drives him nuts!  Hope all your beagle boys and girls are doing GREAT! Hope you're placing lots of Beagles into great homes.  Pass the word on, if you would, to the other Beagle Maryland people that the beagle formerly known as Rollo is making his new parents VERY HAPPY! Visit Hurley's page for his full story.

I adopted Jake, on the home page (as in "Click on Jake"), I guess about two years ago.  I now call Jake, Bailey.  He's doing well!  I've attached a few pictures of Bailey dog doing his favorite thing, sleeping.  He loves the bed!  I've never had a dog so I had no idea that they had such personalities...just like people!  In the morning Bailey is allowed to lay on the bed until its time for him to go out.  When I first got Bailey I thought there was something wrong with him because he didn't bark.  Well he can bark, I guess he just doesn't like to.  I've also discovered Bailey not the sort of dog that is going to watch out for you, as I describe him he's a lover not a fighter!  He's gotten use to the cars on the main road and no longer runs from them but stares at them.  He's learned to shake and for a treat he can lay down and probably do a flip.  Thank you so much for helping me find the Best Beagle!  Visit Bailey's page for his full story and more pictures.

It's been over a month since Chelsea (Satchel) has been with me. She's been a joy to have in my life. She is the sweetest dog I've ever met, and her quirks always make me laugh. She likes to sleep in, and I often have to not only wake her up, but carry her out of bed to go outside. When we're around, she's always right by my side. She isn't much of a licker, but sure loves to snuggle and nuzzle. She'll have very energetic spurts where she chases her greenie around and bounces back and forth on the rug.  The other day my roommates told me that I can never move out, or at least I'd have to leave her with them. Everyone loves her.  I just wanted to thank Beaglemaryland for bringing such a wonderful dog into our lives!  Visit Chelsea's page for more pictures and her full story.

We received pictures but no story of Byron since his adoption.  Visit Byron's page for more pictures.

Bella (formerly CC) was very timid when I first got her.  On her first visit to the vet, I was told that she has a pellet lodged in her abdomen.  The vet believes that, at some point, Bella had been shot with a pellet gun.  No wonder she was so timid.  She wouldn't even go into the backyard by herself.  Slowly, but surely, she has come out of her shell and has taken her position as princess of the house.  We have since moved to Frederick County and Bella now has an acre-size yard and plenty of surrounding farms to run around on.  She has doggie friends that she plays with and jumps out of her skin when she sees freeze dried liver treats.  Bella is my angel and I can't thank you enough for saving her. Visit Bella's page for her full story.

We received pictures but no story of Victoria since her adoption.  Visit Victoria's page for more pictures.

We all love Autumn (formerly Cleo) very much.  She has been busy.  The first week she was here, we had a lot of barking; now we have a lot of running through the house.  Autumn likes to follow her sister, Alivia, all around and our oldest dog, Abby, acts as mom to everybody.  Autumn is learning to listen; she's also  learning to walk on her leash.  I'm sending some pictures; the first one is Alivia, Autumn, and Abby; the second one is Trista and Autumn; the last one is of Autumn on her first Christmas. Please tell everyone at Beagle Maryland happy new year!  Visit Autumn's page for her full story and more pictures.

Snoopy (formerly Pistachio) has been a joy to us.  He came home with us on Dec. 3 and we've all been inseparable since.  Snoopy loves to be rubbed and play with his stuffed animals.   We definitely love him, we hate to leave him when we go to work.  Visit Snoopy's page for more pictures.

This is the story of a Velveteen dog. You know…like the story of the velveteen rabbit, the story of a bedraggled, beat-up stuffed bunny who came alive because of love?!!  Well, that’s Farmer’s story. When he first came into our lives, he was just out of surgery for eating a rock…I still have the rock!...He was bone thin, you could count every rib, weak, and smelled unpleasantly of a dog who was at the brink of giving up. Who knows how long he was sick before his surgery. His expression said the same thing, a look of defeat, as though he was telling me, “Hey, if you’re gonna take me somewhere where I go through more pain, oh well…I just can’t fight anymore.” He came with medicine, special food and instructions to be kept very quiet.  And what happened after that was amazing! Yep, my Velveteen Dog came to life!  Farmer's expression now says, “What fun things are we gonna do today guys?!! It’s wonderful to be alive!”  Good dog, Farmer! Good people, Beagle Rescue!  Visit Farmer's page for his full story and more pictures.

We received this picture, but no story, of Trudy.

I was so glad to see Peppermint Patty's picture on your forever family website section. Pepper as we call her was shy and rather reserved when we got her. As she got to know our family, and her big brother Snoopy she let more of her personality show. She is just so cute and adorable. When I first saw her on the website and read her story I wanted to cry. We have had Pepper now for approx. 8 weeks and we are so glad we adopted her. She likes to play ball with her older, and may I say bigger, brother Snoopy. Pepper usually can steal the ball from him, but he is very good about it. She is learning to sit for treats and housetraining is going great. I am so happy I found this sweet little girl on the Beagle website! We now have Snoopy and Peppermint Patty. I wonder if we need Linus and Lucy! Keep up the great work you do at the beagle rescue.  Visit Pepper's page for more pictures.

Sorry it has taken so long to send these pictures of Bette (formerly Babette).  Bette has really settled in with her new older sister, Buttons.  Bette recently celebrated her first birthday.  Buttons informed her that she was no longer "officially" a puppy.  Bette disagrees.  We think that Bette will prevail - at least for a few more months.  Visit Bette's page for more pictures.

Nutmeg "adopted" me during a Petsmart adoption day I was volunteering at in winter 2005.  At the time, I was living in an apartment that didn't allow dogs, so my wonderful and generous friend Megan (mom to Lanie Lou and Avery) agreed to foster her for 6 months. During that time she gained confidence, learned the intricacies of housetraining, and played endlessly with her two cousins. Now she is FINALLY moved in with us and she's ecstatic at being the only dog. She loves to be outside and she's learning to like car rides.  Despite whatever bad things happened in her past, she approaches every new
person she meets as someone to love.  Nutmeg is affectionate and curious and just plain FUN to be around. We are so glad to have her.  Visit Nutmeg's page for her full story and more pictures.

This is Phoebe, formerly known as Lisa.  She loves laying around and most of the time is very mellow.  Every once in awhile she'll get a burst of energy and run around the house while we all coach her on.  Phoebe loves to go for walks and car rides. She doesn't bark very much unless she wants attention.  She loves to take naps with you especially when she shares a pillow with you.  She is very attentive and can sit, lay down, and stay (thanks to the training classes).  We don't know what we would do without her. Thank you Beagle Maryland!!!

Buddy George has been with us for a little over a month now. His transition into our family has been amazingly seamless. He came house trained and obedient, as well as cute and lovable.  What more could you ask for?! Inside the house he just loves to hang out with us. Outside the house he becomes the great hunter dog, master of the neighborhood. And did we mention that he just loves to eat and sleep? Sorry BRSM we are guilty of allowing him to gain a pound or two. But we do make him work for his treats.
Thanks go to Buddy's foster parents for saving him from the dumpster last May and bringing him into our lives. We are truly lucky to have him.  Visit Buddy's page for his full story and more pictures.

Hi, I'm Lucy.  At the rescue they called me Liesl, but I like my new name a lot.  I miss Miss Mara and my friends from the rescue, but I must admit I like being an only child.
My weeks are restful, which is good because on the weekends I play hard.  Every weekend we go for extra long walks and usually we go to the park.  Sometimes we go on long trips.  I love riding in the car and have my own seatbelt.  Last weekend I went camping for the whole weekend in NC.  I hiked up Hanging Rock all by myself and enjoyed the view.  I also went whitewater canoeing and swimming in the Dan River with daddy and his friend.  I loved jumping on the rocks and playing in the water.  I also got to meet my new grandma and grandpa and their dog, uncle Jackson.
As you can see by my picture being a little lemon beagle is very hard work.  Thank you Beagle Rescue for helping me find my daddy!  Visit Lucy's page for her full story.

We came down from Pa. to pick up the female previously known as Biscuit. Well, after trying about 100 names, we have discovered that she answers consistently to Dora.  Dora is her name.  Basically, she runs the house and everyone in it, and we love her. She has discovered that our big lab dog has his purpose, mainly that his size and strength can protect her too. The lab likes the idea that Dora is top dog. She enjoys her daily shopping trips in the truck and her big runs in the country with her mom. She also  watches her favorite shows on TV; namely Discovery and Animal Planet. Her favorite activity is singing with her Dad. I would have to say that although he is more on key, Dora is definitely louder!  Biscuit, now Dora the Explorer, is formally adopted!  Again I thank all of you for providing us with this very much needed and welcomed new member of our family. Please ask the webmaster to change Dora's status: home forever!  Visit Dora's page for her full story.

Porter (formerly Austin) was adopted in mid-February and has taken some time to adjust to his new home in Baltimore City.  He didn't like to be touched or picked up for the first several months but he did very well interacting with other dogs.  He's a weekly visitor to the nearby dog day care where he plays with 3-4 other beagles. His best friend is a 1 year old great dane though!  Porter has helped me interview other potential Beagle adopters and he makes a great showing because he's a beautiful blue tick beagle, doesn't bark and is constantly asking for belly rubs and pets. He runs the house here now and, this week, is recovering from what looks like his first teeth cleaning (and two teeth extractions on account of poor feeding in his early years).  He's already wanting to return to his long walks and should be fine by next week and ready to get back to his friends at day care.  Thanks for all your help!  Visit Porter's page for his full story and more pictures.

This is Alexis Renee (formerly Paris), but of course we call her Lexy (or Baby, or Punkin, or Princess...and sometimes even Monkey) She came to live with us about 4 months ago, and we couldn't have found a better addition to our family! Lexy is the most cheerful, happy pup I've ever seen. Her tail always wags and she's always ready for play. She loves her toys and doesn't just play with one at a time, oh no. She goes and gets 3 or 4 and alternates between each! Sometimes she'll try to pick up all of them at once and bring them to me. It's so funny to watch. Lexy thinks she's a lap dog and any time we sit down, plop! there she is in our lap ready for a cuddle (she especially loves her "daddy and baby" time while watching tv).  Hooray for Beagle Maryland! Thank you so much!  Visit Lexy's page for her full story and more pictures.

New picture coming soon

Well Baylee & Gracie are doing GREAT! Sherrie was kind enough to bring Baylee Boy home to us right before the New Year. And he settled into our house full of boys quite nicely. We just love him!  He is my BOY!
Then it was time for Gracie Girl to come home to her brother. She might be the smallest of all our dogs....but she makes her place known. Both Gracie & Baylee were shy of my husband and our oldest boy but they have fallen in love with them.
We never imagined separating Baylee & Gracie so they still love sleeping with each other or they even crate up with their bigger beagle sister, Suzie. The sweetest tri-color bunch of dogs -- you ever will see.  We are so happy to have our beagles, I am so glad we met Sherrie & Beagle Maryland. Thank you!! (Pictures coming soon)
Visit Baylees or Gracie's page for their full story.

We fostered Josie (formerly Rebecca) early 2005. She immediately made herself at home (much to our cats' dismay) and it was obvious that we needed to give her
a forever home.  After a month we adopted her.  She was housebroken and crate trained quickly.  Likes:  Chewing on everything!  But her favorite is anything pork flavored, afternoon naps, long walks in the evening.   Dislikes:  Being alone (she loves people), dog parks.  Thank you Beagle Rescue of Maryland!  Josie has made a wonderful addition to our family.  See Josie's page for more photos.  Sincerely, Nancy and Julie

We adopted Misty (Franklin) from Beagle Maryland. Since then my Husband and I  rescued her sister, Chloe, who was a stray. They get along and will sit together. Misty is doing very well and enjoys long walks and goodies. We will send her updated success story soon.  Visit Misty's page for more pictures.

Fantasia has been with us for 2 1/2 weeks now and is settling wonderfully into her new home.  She loves running and playing in the yard, and she plays a mean game of fetch!  We have shown her off on several walks through the neighborhood, and she has become quite a favorite among the local kids.

Fantasia has done great around the house.  She now has her very own bed, to which she has taken quite a liking.  She and our cats are still on the "getting to know you" phase of their relationship, but are making do and sharing space nicely.

Fantasia has already given us a great deal of joy, and we are thrilled to
have her as part of our family. Thank you!

Sandy - now Ginger or Ginger Snap or GingerRoo - is a wonderful Beagle girl!  She is assertive but totally nonaggressive.  She is a love bug.  She carries toys all over the house - doesn't chew much but certainly constantly transports.  She is 99% housebroken and has not chewed anything she shouldn't.  She follows along behind anyone who is home and she loves to play. The three dogs have formed a team and are doing well.  She has been great with Teddy and she sleeps snuggled with Spencer.  Sandy has made 14-year-old Teddy a puppy again.

She has quite an awesome bark.  Anyone outside our door would think we had a Great Dane.  We love her!  Visit Ginger's page for her full story and more pictures.

We received this picture of Gabby (Gabriella) and Hilary relaxing at home with their family, but no story.

Macy (formerly Mary St. Mary's) came home almost a year and a half ago.  You might notice she has put on a few pounds; she SURE does like her food (AND treats!)  Macy is SUCH a little love!  She loves to cuddle, and absolutely MUST be touching someone (or even her brother Cody) or she is not happy.  She is such a wonderful pleasure to have around!  She is very well behaved, but SOMEtimes her nose gets the better of her and she forgets she is supposed to listen…but we understand, she IS a beagle after all!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to have Macy finally at home!  Visit Macy's page to view her full story and more pictures.

Just wanted to follow up on his progress; Jimbo (formerly Yancy) is the most adorable dog.  He likes to sleep in my lap and was just in heaven last night under the covers.  He seems to be getting used to me and the house pretty well. We actually played around this afternoon a bit. I took him for a long walk this morning to the Village Green in Indian Head.

My elderly mother just loves him during the times she is conscious and he even jumped in her bed a few times. She has been so depressed since the loss of Nipper, our old beagle, that Jimbo has really done something for her.

Thanks so much for this little dog.  Visit Jimbo's page for his full story and more pictures.

My mom sure took her time getting my story on the website!  You'd think I was the second child or something.  Hey!  Wait a minute!  I AM the second child!  So THAT'S why all the photos are of Penny!  Well, I've got plenty to offer, too.  See Sadie's  homepage for her story.

We received this picture but no story about Katie Ann since her adoption, but her new mom has promised to send us an update very soon.

Beatrice- AKA Queen Bee. Honey Bee. BeBe, BB Queen and "most beautiful girl in the world" has been queen of the condo for 4 weeks now.  She is a wonderful doggie and it is a pleasure seeing her come out of her shell. She was at Johns Hopkins Research Lab as a breeder dog for a while and we do not know where she was before that.  She was quite timid at first- only sitting on the couch or bed. It took her about 2 weeks to start venturing beyond that to explore her new domain.  She sleeps in the bed now - not a 14' concrete run and has learned to take up more than her share of the bed!!  I love her more than anything in the world!!

PS- I am an Optician and she is a wonderful model of the "smart look" eyeglasses!!  Visit Beatrice's page for her full story.

Angelo was once the beloved little dog of an elderly gentleman.  Then, one day, an ambulance took the gentleman away and Angelo was left all alone. He waited for the gentleman to return. This never happened and the gentleman’s family put Angelo out in the street. He wandered the streets hungry, cold, and lost, and he did not know where to go. One day, he was hit by a car and the pain inside was terrible. Finally, some people in a van came to pick him up and took him to a warm place. He was scared because there was barking and new faces, but he was warm and dry and had food. But he still hurt badly. These new people sent him to a place where he was made to feel better. In the end, a lady and her daughter came for him. They wrapped him in a fleece blanket and drove off with him. Angelo knew he’d be safe. He curled up and fell asleep in the car.  Well, we do know that the last half is true. We actually invented the first one. But it fits perfectly with Angelo, the tiny beagle with philosophical thoughts and wondrous stories to tell, who came into our lives in December 2004.  Visit Angelo's page for his full story.

We adopted Lucky (now named Buddy) in March of this year after losing our first "West Virginia Hound Dog" to cancer in February. Buddy has seemed right at home since day one. He loves to sleep in bed with us (between us, I might add), and has become best pals with our toddler, often playing ball and licking his hands, which they both seem to enjoy! Buddy has a very sweet temperament and loves to cuddle and to play fetch. We've learned what it's like to have a puppy in the house again, and it's so much fun to see Buddy bounding across the backyard in all of his puppy-joy! Thanks for connecting us with a great dog, and a new member of our family!  Visit Buddy's page for more pictures.

Dex's (formerly Auggie) rescue began in a West Virginia shelter, then to BRSM, and finally to us in August 2002. Dex is now a part of our growing family-a girl dog we named Daisy (who was also rescued a year before him), a baby "sister" to look after (our 18 month old daughter, Ryleigh), and my husband and me. Dex is a wonderful dog and loves to play and take naps with Daisy (as you can see from the picture-Dex is on the right), go on walks, and sit in our bay window for hours at a time. He is very outgoing and LOVES to meet and greet new people, dogs, etc. whenever he can get the chance. Dex has adjusted to our home wonderfully and we look forward to spending many, many more years with him!  Visit Dex's page for his full story.

Pete is doing great in our home and as you can see from the pictures he is right at home with the cats! We go for several walks during the day but his favorite is Downs Park or Kinderfarm Park. He loves to sniff out the rabbits and squirrels. Mark and I are so happy that we adopted Pete, he is a perfect fit in our home. Thanks to both of you for all of your help!  Visit Pete's page for more pictures.

Esmerelda's doing really well.  We had our first foster dog come and go this week and Ezzy and the pointer bonded very strongly.  They played and played together.  She's been walking around looking for her.  A funny story.  We fostered a show bred English Pointer who was 8 and had obviously been bred a few times.  She was a lemon and white pointer so exactly the same color as Ezzy.  I looked up one night and Cricket had Ezzy in her mouth carrying her around like a puppy.   It was a scream but I couldn't get to the camera fast enough.  Visit Esmerelda's page for her full story and more pictures.

As you all know Faith has been through it all, from heart worm.... bad teeth...and even bitten by other dogs which caused a serious infection causing Faith to have a serious surgery that left her with a scar across her entire back.  But through all that Faith, "Poopsey" as we call her now, has died and gone to Heaven.  We do not know what we would do without her. Scared at first about fostering a older dog, this could not have been a better experience.  Faith is nothing  but our princess; she even has a diamond studded collar and one that says "it ain't easy being a princess."  Faith thanks Beagle Rescue for saving her and believing in her.  As Faith's forever foster mom, I thank you.  Visit Faith's page for her full story and more pictures.

Jackie had a great morning at the "SPA"  (Petsmart), where she had a bubble bath, and had her nails done. Aren't the little bows in her hair cute!!!!!

Jackie made friends with the "Beagle" next door. His name is Spike. He comes over to my yard to hunt rabbits under the shed. When I coaxed him out, he came into the yard, and he and Jackie liked each other right away.

So far, everything is good, she is a sweetie.  Visit Jackie's page for more pictures.
