4/13/06 - “Tyler” (formerly Tyrone?) is about to celebrate his one year anniversary in his forever home.  He adopted us (!) at the 2005 Middleburg (VA) Spring Races.  While he is actually a former hunting dog, he has adapted to retirement quite well.  Admittedly there were some initial “challenges” -  like marking the sofa (if he wants to pay for one then he can mark it), standing on the coffee table (reminds him of the view from the top of his doghouse maybe?), and learning that just because he wolfs his food down, doesn’t mean he is going to get the other dog’s serving as well – and she told him that, several times, before he learned!  We also discovered early on that he has trouble with making constructive use of his “free-time”.  What were we thinking leaving him free in the house while we were out?  After several blankets, comforters and sheets paid the price for this freedom we have now reached a compromise whereby he stays in a crate when no one is home AND he gets his own blanket, which he doesn’t seem to chew as much  - go figure!  It has been a wonderful first year with Tyler and we absolutely love him.  BEAGLES RULE!  Adopt one!

PS – Rumor has it that Tyler will be making a guest appearance at this year’s Middleburg Spring Race (Saturday April 22nd) in celebration of his 1st year anniversary in his forever home.  If you are there, stop by and say hello to him!
