We adopted Snickers, formerly Athos, in April of 2005. Snickers has grown up a lot since then...literally! He was only four months old and nearly 40 lbs. when we got him and now he is 75 lbs! He looks a little like a beagle, but his legs and tail are a mystery to us. Perhaps he's mixed with foxhound? When Snickers first came home, he was very timid and shy. Because he had been found in the woods as a puppy, he wasn't sure what to think of people, was terrified of car rides, and was very aggressive when it came to feeding time. he also loved to chew everything, including our brand new coffee table! The chewing stage seems to be over and the aggressiveness has subsided. He is still leery of strangers, but he is a good guard dog. He LOVES the dog park and is very excited about car rides. We no longer have to pick him up to get him in the car. He is even mature enough to be trusted when left alone in the house. We don't have to hide our "chewables," such as shoes, any longer. He gets a lot of questions and stares because no one can figure out what he is! He is exactly the right height to rest his head on the dining room table, but he knows he won't get any food that way. What exactly Snickers is may be a mystery, but that's fine with us because we know he loves us! Our house just wouldn't be the same without him...we wouldn't have those teeth marks on our door frames!
