When Lincoln first arrived at the Beagle Rescue, he was a
very sick dog. He suffered from heartworms, lung problems, and had been
shot. (You can still
see the buckshot in his X-rays!) Through the hard work of everyone at Beagle
Rescue, however, Lincoln made an amazing recovery, and almost three years
later is now a healthy and happy Friend of Winston. (He still has some
health issues, but that's to be expected of any senior citizen!) He is a
very dignified and gentle soul (much like his namesake), but still can act
like a puppy when he feels the urge.
Lincoln loves to play with his stuffed toys (especially his birds), and
plays "fetch" whenever he can. He likes to go outside and walk, and loves to
just sit on the grass and soak up the sunshine. He has claimed his
foster dad's office couch as his own, and lives to be petted every available
moment of the day.
He still has trust issues. Lincoln is very afraid of strange people and
strange animals, and even loud noises will cause him to run away in fear.
He hates change, and is very stubborn.
Lincoln spends his days with Nixon and Rocky, two smaller pugs. Nixon also
loves to play with his stuffed toys, and one can find both of them pulling
on
the same toy, all in good fun. Like many big brothers, he and his little
sister Rocky have their moments. While Rocky still rules over all the men in
the house, Lincoln is the one brave soul who can stand up to her--and win!
His foster parents are grateful for the joy and happiness Lincoln has
brought to the family, and have found fostering to be one of the most
rewarding experiences ever. Hopefully, other loving people will become
foster parents, and help make sure that more dogs have a chance at a good
life.
