Betsy Voss

Adopted!

Female ~ 5 - 6 yrs old ~ 23 lbs (Towson, MD)

Betsy is very people bonded and social.  When she first arrived in her current foster home, she was timid and overly submissive, rolling onto her back at the slightest provocation, but the ensuing weeks have brought her a bit more self confidence.  She shares her foster home with three other beagle and beagle mixes and has fit in beautifully.  She plays hard with the resident two year old dog, but is not raucous at all, otherwise.  She is VERY gentle in taking treats from your hand, but manages to push her way to the forefront at dinner time, in her very best beagle-like manner.

Her foster mom crated her during working hours for the first few days, but Betsy is such a well behaved girl, that Mom felt it was no longer necessary.  She has the run of the house during the day with no mishaps so far, save a shredded newspaper.

There is a dog door available at her foster home 24/7, and Betsy has proved very reliable at using it when she needs to.  We have no way of knowing if she would be as reliable if she were dependant on someone having to open a door for her, but at least she has an understanding of where it's appropriate to eliminate and where it is not.

Betsy is a wonderful dog and would most certainly be good with children who are as gentle as she is.  She would be intimidated by roughhousing.  She is very social and would probably fare best in a home where her humans were home more often than not, or at least with another dog.

Adoptive Status:  Spayed, UTD on shots and microchipped.

Dream Home Minimum Requirements: Just needs love and a human to love her. She would, however, like a home where the belly rubs are more frequent and of longer duration.  Social creature that she is, she'd probably like to share her home with another non-aggressive dog.

Owner Aptitude Level:  Beginner.
