8/15/95-Porter (formerly Austin) was adopted in mid-February and has taken some time to adjust to his new home in Baltimore City.  He didn't like to be touched or picked up for the first several months but he did very well interacting with other dogs.  He's a weekly visitor to the nearby dog day care where he plays with 3-4 other beagles. His best friend is a 1 year old great dane though!  Porter has helped me interview other potential Beagle adopters and he makes a great showing because he's a beautiful blue tick beagle, doesn't bark and is constantly asking for belly rubs and pets. He runs the house here now and, this week, is recovering from what looks like his first teeth cleaning (and two teeth extractions on account of poor feeding in his early years).  He's already wanting to return to his long walks and should be fine by next week and ready to get back to his friends at day care.  I hope to adopt another Beagle to join Porter next year and will continue to visit the web site to see who would make a good fit with Porter.
