Mara told me that Ash and her brother Beau were rescued from a shelter in Prince Georges County. The owners took good care of them, but could not keep them anymore. When we got Ash, she was about a year old. Beau was adopted by an older couple. The first time I saw my Ash, she was running around like a maniac. However, the minute we sat down to talk to Mara, she decided to jump on the couch with Beau and rest. Those two of them (Beau & Ash) were stuck together like glue. I was worried that Ash would miss Beau too much if we adopted her. Before I had to make a decision to adopt one or two dogs, I called Mara and she told me Beau was already adopted. I had a beagle, daschund named Sammy. When I lost Sammy to cancer, my heart broke. I did not want to get attached to another dog. My sister Mary convinced me that our other beagle HoneyBunch needed a friend. She led me to the beagle rescue website and the rest is history.
