Angelo was once the beloved little dog of an elderly gentleman. They took walks together and, in the evening, they sat in big overstuffed armchairs and the elderly gentleman read stories to Angelo. Then, one day, an ambulance took the gentleman away and Angelo was left all alone in the big creaking house. He sat for many days on his overstuffed armchair waiting for the gentleman to return. This never happened and the gentleman’s family put Angelo out in the street saying they had no time for him. Sad and disoriented, he wandered the streets. He was hungry, cold, lost and did not know where to go. One day, he was hit by a car and the pain inside was terrible. He hid in the bushes and waited for it to get better and then he wandered once again. Finally, somebody put a blanket out for him and some food and people in a van came to pick him up and took him to a warm place. He was scared because there was barking and new faces, but he was warm and dry and had food. But he still hurt badly. These new people saw that he was not well and sent him to a place where he was made to feel better. He lived there for quite some time and even though they told him he’d be fine, he was in pain for many days. In the end, a lady and her daughter came for him. They wrapped him in a fleece blanket and drove off with him. Angelo knew he’d be safe. He curled up and fell asleep in the car.

Well, we do know that the last half is true. We actually invented the first one. But it fits perfectly with Angelo, the tiny beagle with philosophical thoughts and wondrous stories to tell, who came into our lives in December 2004.
