Hi, regarding adopting an adult beagle, how does one go about changing an adopted dog's name?  Do you have to stay with a new one that rhymes with the old one or is ok to change to a totally different sound?  Is it unfair to change it even tho' the rescue only recently gave the dog the name?

Hi Brit,

There is nothing wrong with changing the pup's name regardless of age.  You can change it to anything you want, just make sure you only use that name from then on.  You can also help your pup learn its name faster by saying the name and when your pup looks at you give it a treat.
